Ease Over Easy

Hello, friends. I hope your summer is settling in sweetly. I have been plugging away at some new projects at the Arthouse, but also have been taking some time to recalibrate due to some shifting health priorities. I’ve been contemplating the need to build ease into my life, both in health and work, and it is very different than letting things be easy. I will argue that there are definitely times to simply go the easy route, but that feels like it is more of a short term solution.

The interesting thing of the last few years, is that we may have found that there is MUCH more ease in our lives without the old commute or obligations we were unable to make adjustments to. And I love this. It can give us a flavor of what is possible if we make some shifts in how we go about our lives and what we say yes to. Yet the world is speeding up again and we find ourselves stuck in places where we may have just let things be easy. For me, it showed up in finding out I do not have any official food allergies and being told i should be able to eat whatever I wanted to. What a relief! Life became so much easier there for a year or so- no more needing a special option or taking extra time for making specific foods. But this winter and spring it really hit me hard. Extreme exhaustion and all the things that come with actually having food sensitivities. So the easy route actually made things more difficult!

A few weeks ago, I made some shifts and have been carving out the intention of creating EASE in my life. I am approaching it like a creative project- beginning with an insight, visualizing what i would like to create, planning for it, iterating, then going all in and committing to the creation of wellness with the intention of being able to show up for my creative practice with greater ease. And you know what? When I get to the stage of reflection and adjustment, I realize how much work it is, but it is very much worth it.

We each have places where we are just letting things be easy, and it is important to allow for that. When we are ready, the time will come to invest in ease. This looks different for each of us, which is why I offer Creative Guidance Sessions that are tailor made to the individual.

I also recognize that we sometimes grow best in community, which is why I started Group Study Sessions. We are halfway through the first series, but you can still drop in- next week we will be working on mapping our individual ideal schedules for the day/week/month/year, utilizing our personal needs and the structures of nature. The next series will begin in the fall and there will be both in person and online options. Drop a line if you are interested in chatting with me about learning more!

Much love and respect,

xoMsAnnaLee
