A Bright Blue Moon with Allegra Lockstadt
I am so excited to have Allegra Lockstadt as our Bright Moon Salon Honored Guest coming up for Thursday, June 29th. In fact, it is our first ever Bright Blue Moon Salon, as we will technically have two salons the month of June, due to most folks traveling the following week for the holiday. Allegra is a longtime friend and inspiration to me and so many others. She is committed to her work, and even more deeply committed to community care and social justice. RSVP and secure your spot by sending a venmo of $25 to @workerby. (also open to other formats, just coordinate with me xo)
About the upcoming session with Allegra:
Watercolour can be a mystifying, mysterious, and intimidating medium for many. In this short workshop, we’ll have fun as we demystify the medium, explore painting methods, and conquer our creative fears (while having fun!) by learning about watercolours from the ground up.
We’ll cover the basics of watercolour painting, the chemical + organic makeup of the paint, talk about different materials and tools, ways of executing a painting, and tips for observing and rendering images. We’ll also look at historical and contemporary painting works and dissect how they were made.
We’ll be working with *romantic* (but PG!) subject matter: we’ll learn how to paint with watercolours by painting roses and flower petals, with some sweet additions from Steph Leininger of Botanica Floristry
You do not need to bring anything, we will cover a few materials to use during this event with the cost of your event fee:
Watercolour paper
Watercolour paint and palettes
Brushes
Not covered but recommended: Feel free to bring a sketchbook for painting in, or taking notes!
