Holding Eachother in Creative Accountability

Just me thinking about how many folks are deepening their relationship to their creative practice these days.

I have long believed that creativity thrives in community. We may create in solitude, but we need inspiration, feedback, something to bump up against and respond to. We need each other.

Last week at the Arthouse, we gathered for the second annual Bright Moon Salon Horn Ceremony and celebrated our shining moments of the last twelve months and our hopes for the future. It was remarkable to be able to wholeheartedly toast to everyone’s success because we had been there each month witnessing the ups and downs of what folks were willing to share over time. We had all been showing up and doing the work over time.

“It takes many years to become an overnight success.” -Frank Sonnenberg and any other creative entrepreneur who finds success

If you have ever had a creative project burn wildly in your creative heart, only to be lost in the ether the following month, I feel you. If you have a mind full of ideas and no idea where to begin, I see you. If you have ever mapped out your ideas, talked to your trusted collaborators, lined everything up, only to have it dashed by a global pandemic or some other major life event, I hear you.

It can be a challenge to prioritize our creative ideas and projects. Our desire to create can be set aside because we feel no one is really paying attention, there are so many other priorities that come first, or we just don’t know where to begin.

Enter Dark Moon Sparks, which begins this week!

Dark Moon Sparks is the sister to the Bright Moon Salon. It’s about cultivating resources within ourselves and in community, aligned with the moon cycles. The dark moon is the time before the new moon where we assess what is working and what is not, and prepare to make new or adjusted intentions for what we want to create in the next moon cycle.

The dark and new moon phases can also be a quieter, lonely time. So connecting with thoughtful and intentional community can really help us tend to those inner sparks that may feel like they are fading.

Dark Moon Sparks sessions have an online or in-person option. They begin Tuesday, August 8th (in person at the Arthouse at 630pm) and Thursday, August 10th (online via zoom at 2pm central), and include tools and exercises to support our different motivation styles and will focus on seeing us each through the next six months of goals and accountability.

The drop in rate is $25 each and the package is $120 ($20 per session) with a $20 discount on all individual Creative Guidance Sessions. Note that I am happy to work with you on a payment plan if that is best for you.
