February Bright Moon Salon: Chris Larson

Chris Larson is one of my favorite longstanding collaborators and is the dearest of friends. I first met Chris in Minneapolis in 2009 when he was working as a stylist for Voltage: Fashion Amplified, and he quickly stepped up within the ranks in 2010 and 2011 as a designer and art director for both Voltage and MNfashion eventually.

It has been a joy to have him up north as of late, and he and his creative work have been an important part of the Arthouse since its inception- he was the first participant in the Creative Guidance Retreat when the Arthouse was merely a month old! And of course, he painted the iconic mural in the Arthouse Gallery that inspired and informed the Gray Matter Series: Mother Trees in 2022.

He has always had a strong voice and sense of both advocacy and aesthetics, and over the years our conversations have deepened in their philosophy and intention.

Chris joins the Bright Moon Salon this month on Monday, February 19th from 6-8pm at the Arthouse (and online!) to talk about incorporating doodling in a creative practice as a focus aid, an antidote to self-censorship, a source of joy, and a portal to self-knowledge.

I hope you can join us!

Chris Larson is a graphic designer, illustrator, surface pattern designer, and art director. In 2021, he founded Wrapture, an eco-friendly, subscription-based wrapping paper brand. After working both locally and globally in the beauty and fashion industries more than a decade, he created Chris Larson Studio in 2023, consolidating these areas of focus under one umbrella.

About the Bright Moon Salon:

Established July 2022, The Bright Moon Salon is a monthly meet up of creative individuals invested in supporting each other by holding space for the individual within the collective. Each month on an evening leading up to the full moon, we gather to share our insights and talents while engaging the group in conversations and activities that support the deepening of what it means to be in community.

The Bright Moon Salon is a hybrid event, which allows us to gather at the Arthouse and online via zoom. This allows for flexibility in how we show up, especially if weather, location, illness or energy levels are a consideration.
